The Kawishiwi Watershed drains an area of 1200 square miles in northeastern Minnesota. The waters travel through the White Iron Chain of Lakes near Ely, Minnesota, continues through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, the Quetico Provincial Park in Canada, and ultimately ends in Hudsons Bay.
The White Iron Chain of Lakes Association (WICOLA) recognizes the significance and potential impact of allowing degradation of the watershed, and is undertaking this project to ensure a long-term healthy waterway and wildlife habitat.
